2nd December 2007 - NATURE WALKS
Venue - Borivali National Park.
The nature walks which will take place at Borivali National Park aims at educating children about Nature and the impact global warming has on it. With the nature walks we are trying to show the children how beautiful the environment really can be. This event is organized in collaboration with Sanctuary Magazine
7th December 2007 - TAKE A STAND
The Take a Stand Campaign encourages everyone to make a placard or poster with one or more messages about global warming and stand at any point in the city and hold that placard out for passersby to read. These messages should be clear and simple educating people about global warming or giving simple tips on how to combat it in their daily life. This is not a demonstration or a political campaign. This is more of an educative campaign to increase awareness and action against global warming. Show the rest of the city that you care and want to make a difference.
Start at any point in the day with friends, family or alone. It takes one to make a difference. Mail us at info@mumbaiunplug.com and let us know where you are standing.
9th December 2007 - PAINT IT GREEN
PAINT IT GREEN
Our canvases will be placed at Marine Drive, Carter Road (Bandra) and Juhu Beach. Come with friends, family or alone and paint the world the way you would like to see it. Get your building along, your school or your college too. There is space for everyone. If you want to make your own canvas, pull out an old bed sheet or get old newspapers, stick them together and paint your message. Email us at info@mumbaiunplug.com and let us know where you are putting up your canvas. Maybe we can have it placed around the city once you are done.
Paint sponsored by Pidilite Hobby Ideas.
11th December 2007 - HR MUN HUMAN CHAIN
Come join the H.R. College students as they form a human chain on Marine Drive to make a statement about global warming and to show that we can take a stand. If you cannot make it there let us know if you can do it in your area too. We’ll join hands with you and help you.
15th DECEMBER 2007 - MUMBAI UNPLUG - BATTI BANDH
Join Mumbai as we show the world that we care about our planet and our city and together we can make a difference. Every movement starts with one person and each one of us is equally capable of taking this first step. Unplug for 1 hour, just 1 hour on December 15th between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. and help us set an example for the rest of the world to follow. Do this for yourself, your children and every generation that otherwise might not be able to witness the beauty of nature.
This is a citizen's initiative, and you are part of it. Every bit you do helps the cause - tell your neighbours about it, organise an event for that one hour, or simply switch off. Today, as you give one hour back to your planet, we hope it's a special time for you. To celebrate the event, a number of artists will be performing at Bandstand, Carter Road, Marine Drive and other venues during that hour.
Please come and join in the unplugged festivities, and let us know if you are organising any on your own.
